                                          The Wedding Dance

Pieter Bruegel lived many years ago, almost 500 years ago, (born 1525, died 1569).

He was born in a place we now call Holland.

Here is a portrait that was drawn by Pieter Bruegel.  (show picture)

Bruegel liked to paint pictures of the peasants.  He lived in the city, but he and a friend would often dress up like a peasant ans sneak into the peasants weddings and parties.  He also painted pictures of parables/stories found in the Bible.

Bruegel had two sons - Jan and Piter the younger.  They both were artists.  Jan was more inventive while Pieter repeated a lot of his father's work, changing them slightly to fit his temperament (he was kind of wild).

    *Hunters in the Snow

Turn music on and let class dance around as if they were at the Wedding Dance.

Have class return to their seats and color the picture given to them.  Have them color the bride pink, the groom red, and Pieter blue.  








Serve wedding cake and punch.
